Rifle range transformation in Elsternwick

16 February 2015

Local MP, Philip Dalidakis has welcomed plans to refurbish Elsternwick’s historic former rifle range site into a café/bar eatery to be run by a renowned hospitality group.

Mr Dalidakis said the selection of the successful consortium and the submissions of the plans to Glen Eira Council for consideration were both significant milestones to reinvigorate the building and its surrounds.

Representatives from landowner VicTrack, and the successful proponents, composed of the Glenhuntly Rifle Pty Ltd and Six Degrees Architects joined Mr Dalidakis to tour the site and view the plans.

The Andrews Labor Government sees the development of the former Rifle Range as supporting the local community and local traders through the re-invigoration of the building and its surrounds.

We thank Mary Delahunty (Councillor) for her work advocating on behalf of the project and recognise it is now up to the Council to assess the application on its merits, in keeping with the normal planning processes.

We are excited by the opportunity to transform the historic Rifle Club into a new café/bar and eatery that will add to Elsternwick’s diverse food and beverage landscape.

Along with this important visual connection, we believe the physical interface will allow for families to better use the park while having an engaging hospitality experience.
