Retired trams strategy

20 November 2017

We are chairing a stakeholder reference group on behalf of government, to provide recommendations to the Minister for Public Transport on repurposing Victoria’s retired trams.

The group comprises people with expertise in transport, heritage, arts and tourism and will meet regularly until April 2018.

Only a small amount of Victoria's retired trams meet modern standards and are suitable to go back on the network, as City Circle or restaurant trams. Others could be repurposed as static displays for the community, or sold to individuals or private businesses.

If you have questions about the retired trams strategy, please contact us.

If you have previously expressed an interest in receiving a tram via VicTrack or Public Transport Victoria, you do not need to contact us again – we will be in touch over the coming months.
