Flexible working arrangements have allowed Trevor to be present for his young family while also working on flagship infrastructure projects.
After working in civil engineering in the private sector, I was keen to look for opportunities in new systems and technology.
I was attracted by the opportunity to work with VicTrack’s telecommunications network that provides essential services to the rail network.
Flexible working arrangements allow us to have more time with the children, helping with drop-offs or pick-ups and cutting down commuting times to be more present at home and be productive at work.
It was easy to find my place at VicTrack in a team that is dedicated to supporting major flagship infrastructure projects, such as the Level Crossing Removal Project and new station upgrades, using VicTrack upgraded telecommunications infrastructure.
I have also had a great opportunity to act in a Project Director role, allowing me to step up and interface with external stakeholders and our senior leadership team.
I’ve been able to do this with the support of my mentors at VicTrack, who are people I admire, and are generous in sharing their feedback and belief in my capabilities.
While work opportunities here have been great, the culture and support has been amazing.
There are many people from different cultures and places around the world at VicTrack. I enjoy getting to understand their cultural beliefs and how they bring this into the work environment.
To me, it means that we are all united under the same principles and standards in how we work and live every day. It is great to know what we represent and how we stand together.
VicTrack has been incredibly supportive in helping me achieve work life balance. I have welcomed my two children into the world while at VicTrack, and accessed paid parental leave to help with my newborn.
I feel a strong connection with colleagues who are in similar life stages. Flexible working arrangements allow us to have more time with the children, helping with drop-offs or pick-ups and cutting down commuting times to be more present at home and be productive at work.
