175 new car parks complete at Warrnambool Station

21 December 2018

Warrnambool Station now has 175 new and upgraded car parking spaces and improved accessibility following the completion of works as part of the Andrews Labor Government’s Road and Rail Minor Works Program.

Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney, welcomed the expansion of the car park, which will take the pressure off trying to find a parking space at the station.

Safety has been boosted in the car park through lighting and CCTV, and access has been improved with new accessible parking adjacent to the platform, and a footpath linking the station to Gillies Street and the Warrnambool town centre.

The car park will be operated and maintained by Warrnambool City Council.

In addition to the car park works, the coach interchange at Warrnambool is receiving a much needed upgrade, and bus shelter upgrades are underway at key locations around Warrnambool.

The car park improvements at Warrnambool Station come ahead of the Warrnambool Line Upgrade, which is set to give passengers more frequent and reliable services and paves the way for VLocity trains to run to Warrnambool.

The Labor Government’s Road and Rail Minor Works Program is delivering more than 900 new and upgraded car parks, improved bicycle storage facilities and new bus shelters across regional Victoria.

Under the program, 50 parking spaces have already been upgraded Marshall Station and 200 spaces are being upgraded at South Geelong Station, to make it easier for people to access trains on the Warrnambool Line.
