Locals in the Macedon Ranges will find it easier to park at Woodend and Macedon stations, with the opening of more than 300 new and upgraded car parks.
Member for Macedon, Mary-Anne Thomas, today announced the completion of works to upgrade the car parks as part of the Road and Rail Minor Works Program, providing people with better access to the busy stations.
Crews upgraded 195 spaces at Woodend and 110 spaces at Macedon and both car parks have new lighting, CCTV and footpaths, making them safer and easier to use.
At Woodend Station, a new footpath linking Corinella Road and the existing pedestrian railway crossing will improve access through the station precinct to the Woodend town centre. There are also new accessible parking bays and a new entrance to the car park to help reduce congestion during peak times.
In Macedon, new accessible car parking spaces are connected to platform one with stairs and an accessible ramp, and a footpath connects the station to Smith Street. The coach interchange has also been improved.
In June this year, a new enclosed platform shelter opened at the station.
The works come on top of the creation of 122 new car parks at Kyneton, which opened late last year.
Works are also underway to build more than 75 sealed car parks at Clarkefield Station, with works due to be completed before the end of the year.
The Labor Government has already delivered almost 10,000 new and upgraded spaces over the last four years.
A re-elected Labor Government will continue its record investment and build 11,000 more spaces at stations across the state, along with improved bicycle storage facilities, CCTV cameras and better lighting.
