Road and Rail Minor Works Program

On behalf of the Victorian Government we are delivering a state-wide upgrade of regional stations, bus stops and bus interchanges, which will provide improved facilities for public transport users.

The project responds to priorities under the Regional Network Development Plan that was kick-started by the Victorian Government’s $1.3 billion investment in regional public transport in the 2016-17 Budget.

The Road and Rail Minor Works Program will deliver additional commuter car park spaces, new bus shelters, improved station amenities and bus interchanges, new passenger information displays, and new bike parking facilities across the regions below.

Works are kicking off across Victoria during March and April 2018, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2018. For updates on your region select the tab below.

Community feedback

We held community information sessions across the Barwon South West, Gippsland, Grampians, Hume and Loddon Mallee regions to help inform the development of our plans.

Hume

Seymour Station

The car park at Seymour Station is being upgraded with new accessible parking spaces and a Parkiteer bike cage, and the shelters at the bus interchange will be improved.

Shepparton Station

We are building a new waiting area at Shepparton Station, and 11 new bus shelters across Shepparton and Mooroopna.

Thank you to everyone who had their say on the Shepparton Station waiting area concept design.

A feedback report will be sent out to those who expressed interest shortly, and works are expected to begin on the shelter in July.

Works are expected to begin on the bus shelters later in 2018.

Barwon South West

Marshall Station

Work is underway to upgrade the car park at Marshall Station with 50 parking spaces, and improved accessible parking. See the Marshall Station construction poster for more information.

South Geelong Station

The car park at South Geelong Station will be upgraded with 200 parking spaces, and improved accessible parking.

Warrnambool Station

The car park at Warrnambool Station will be upgraded with more than 175 untimed parking spaces, and improved accessible parking. The coach interchange will also be upgraded.

  • Geelong Station Bus Interchange: new shelter canopy and taxi rank shelter

  • North Geelong Station: bike cage installation
  • North Shore Station: new bus shelter and pedestrian crossing
  • Portland Coach Interchange: upgrade and new bus shelter
Gippsland

Koo Wee Rup

The bus interchange at Koo Wee Rup Station is being rebuilt and upgraded, and there will be car park improvements.

Latrobe Valley bus shelters

We are installing 22 bus shelters across the Latrobe Valley. Works began in Traralgon on Monday 21 May 2018, and are then continuing on to Morwell, Moe, Newborough and Yallourn North. The impacted stops are:

Traralgon:

  • Hunter Rd, near Longford Crt.
  • Park Lane, near Hammer Smith Circuit
  • Liddiard Rd, near Miles St
  • Princes Hwy, near Franklin St
  • Opposite 16 Ray St, near Mervyn St
  • Princes Hwy, near Washington St

Grampians

Wendouree Station

Construction is underway to upgrade the station car park with 200 parking spaces and improved accessible parking.

Ballarat bus shelters

We are installing 10 new bus shelters across Ballarat. Works began on Monday 28 May 2018. The impacted stops are below:

  • Callow St and Main Rd
  • Elsworth St and Main Rd
  • Barkly St and Warrenheip St
  • Midland Hwy and Warrenheip St
  • Milverton Lane and Geelong Rd
  • Kinnersley Ave and Geelong Rd
  • Elizabeth St and Geelong Rd
  • Gear Ave and Geelong Rd (to Ballarat)
  • Shire Ave and Geelong Rd (to Ballarat)
  • Glenvale Rd and Geelong Rd (to Buninyong)

  • Ballan: Installation of new sliding doors at station
Loddon Mallee

Woodend Station

Construction is underway to upgrade the station car park with 200 spaces. See the Woodend Station construction poster for more information.

Macedon Station

The carpark at Macedon Station will be upgraded with 110 parking spaces and improved accessible parking, and a new shelter has been built on the Melbourne-bound platform. 

Works to upgrade the car park will begin on 2 July.

The carpark at Kangaroo Flat Station will be upgraded with 50 parking spaces and improved accessible parking. 

Clarkefield Station

The carpark at Clarkefield Station will be upgraded with 78 parking spaces and improved accessible parking.
