VicTrack makes underused land, assets and buildings available to community organisations at affordable rents through our community leasing program.
VicTrack and the Department of Transport and Planning are once again providing funding to support organisations that lease our assets for community purposes through our Community Grants Program.
2026 Community Grants Program
Applications for the 2026 Community Grants Program are now open.
Our Community Grants Program helps not-for-profit and tourist and heritage rail groups with small projects and conserving buildings, land and other assets they lease from VicTrack.
For the first time regional and rural councils in fire-affected communities that have community leases with VicTrack are also eligible to apply for a grant.
Community groups and eligible local councils can apply for up to $5,000 each, and because of their responsibilities to manage state-owned rolling stock, tourist and heritage rail groups can apply for up to $15,000 each.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online using our application form.
We have created a preview of the application form for community tenants and eligible local councils and tourist and heritage rail groups so you can see the questions and the documents you will be required to provide with your application.
Applications are open until 5pm on Friday, 11 September 2026.
